The Interceptor is an Ocean Cleanup vessel that removes plactic from the rivers before it pollutes the oceans.

Our LED partner, LucoLED worked with Dutch design agency Fabrique to deliver strong visual impact on the vessel, through lighting. The front accent is Lucoflex RGB TB and the wash effect are EL36. These are dimmed to 50% in the picture above.

The vessel is self-supporting, powered by solar panels on the roof. LucoLED products are also featured on the interior lighting and light control systems, with the goal of minimal energy usage.

Four of these innovative vessels are now operational and more are under costruction. The project won the Dutch Design Award. Sadly, the designer, René Bubberman, did not live to get this recognition, having recently died in a tragic plane crash.
